Nice to see the smartly-conceived ESPN Database launch at http://espndb.go.com/nfl/draft/index.
Looking forward to the mid-Alpha (alpha-beta?) version of the site on Friday, and usability testing in Boston on Thursday.
New rev coming out on May 1st, and we will ship out the access material at that point. We have redone the homepage, and other goodies.
Potential alpha users: we are fine-tuning several things on the site, and we will ship out access over the next few weeks.
Product improvements: Comments on external RSS pages; UX modifications and corrections; Slight changes to caching. Thank you, alpha users.
Most popular last names in sports: Jones, 105; Williams, 101; Smith, 92; Brown, 84; Davis, 64; Jackson, 61; Thomas, 60; Wilson, 54 (50,000+
Most popular first names in sports: Chris, 244; Matt, 181; Mike, 172; Ryan, 163; Jason, 128; Brian, 121; David, 121 (50,000+ athletes)
Looking forward to the site release on Wednesday, tax day. (There is no linkage.)
The site launch is tomorrow, and it is the result of the talented team work of Mike, Michael, Sangraal, Doug and Babu.
We will roll out additional features, like, oh, say, friending/following in the near future, along with photos, European Football, NASCAR and Formula One. (And then college sports, for all of you competitive Div. I people.)
If you don’t get an invite code tomorrow, make sure to sign up at Fire-Exit and/or follow us on Twitter.
And things are coming together nicely. We have rethought the home page, of course, and I hope that we can get the new version up before the kimono is opened/sheets come off/doors are opened/fall TV season starts.
We are aggregating over 10,000 different entities an each of those entities are inter-related within a domain.
We look forward to your feedback during the private alpha period, and you can sign up for the alpha at FanFeedr (which redirects to Fire-Exit.)
