We have them, and they are going to be on team and player pages throughout the site.

Here is an example of a Yankees Widget AND a Red Sox widget, lest we offend either team’s fans.

Horn of plenty

Horn of plenty

The horn of plenty for this week:

  • Our content and search RESTful API is available. Get aggregated sports on your site in a few easy steps.
  • We have a store, where you can get all of your FanFeedr gear
  • Better hotness. We’re constantly refining this formula to represent what users find most compelling. This latest version improves how views, comments and ratings are represented within the formula.
  • UX improvements for fan/follower pages and fan icons.
  • New content sources have been added, with highlights including better Tennis and F-1 coverage

As always, thanks, FanFeedr

Release 19: More (and better) team information

new stuff

new stuff

New stuff:

  1. You can now search for newspapers, web sites, and Twitter authors and become a fan of those entities
  2. When you find a newspaper, or a web site, and they have writers or personalities, you can fan them as well (in the column on the right). Here is my favorite, Bill Simmons.
  3. We made following fans (i.e. regular folks) more intuitive, so you can easily follow and unfollow folks.
  4. The speed of type-ahead is greatly improved, so that those of you with fast (as opposed to fat) fingers don’t outstrip it
  5. We added better geolocation for “Local Teams.” You would only see this if you haven’t taken the plunge and registered in three clicks.
  6. We added 399 new content sources for your enjoyment

As always, we look forward to your feedback and suggestions here, in our feedback forums.

See you next week, the folks at FanFeedr

R18 and FanFeedr for iPhone 0.8

Posted: July 2nd, 2009 | Author: Michael | Filed under: Release | View Comments

A horn of plenty this week from the trusty FanFeedr phalanx:

  • First and foremost, we’ve submitted our iPhone app to Apple this week. The app provides the same functionality as the website (with some small exceptions) but with UX features and gestures specifically tuned to the iPhone’s multitouch interface. You can register on the website or use this link to get the word when the app becomes available in the App Store.
  • The iPhone app wouldn’t be possible without our new Search API. We’re putting the finishing touches on the documentation, and then we’ll unleash the API on the expectant masses. Stay tuned for information on how to use the API to power your own sports information feeds on your blog, website, handheld device, Internet-connected appliances, etc.
  • We’ve refined the way we aggregate and categorize content, increasing both the scope of what we collect — we added 460 new sources this week alone — and the accuracy of the categorization, so you can find more and better content for your favorite teams and players.
  • Last but not least, we’ve turned on RSS feeds for content aggregation pages. Look for the RSS symbol in the location bar of your favorite browser.
  • As always, our amanuenses await your suggestions and advice at this handy location.
